About

Hello! Thanks for visiting my site. My name is Jennifer. Here is a little about me:

I live in the Atlanta area. I am a mom and I've been married to my magnificent other since 2006. I'm employed full time in IT at a large healthcare provider.

As a young adult, I struggled to find my career path. I came from a small town of about 3,000 people and few opportunities. My options were to work at one of the local banks, one of the local stores, or find an opening in a local government job. If I traveled 30 miles one way, I could work in the capital city, which at the time was less than 200,000 people.

I thought I had to know what I was going to do for the rest of my life while I was in high school. I worried that I would change, that my interests, priorities and goals would change and I would spend time and money in college working to get a degree in something I wouldn't be happy doing.

Instead of going to college immediately after high school, I stumbled around the job market for a while, working in contract positions, working in a nursing home, making cold calls in sales, working in fast food and not working at all. I didn't enjoy any of it. It was hard to connect with the work and with each company mission. As I look back on all the job opportunities I've had, I can honestly say as a child, I would have never thought I would be working in my industry or doing the work I'm doing.

Today, I have a fantastic career at a company with a mission that means something to me. I am encouraged to grow and to help others grow. My friends and colleagues have regularly come to me over the years for career advice.  We have regular chats about career paths, business strategy, helping others, and growing personally and professionally.

In 2021, I participated in a mentorship program and mentored a colleague in another department at work. It was something my manager suggested to me for professional development. It was a success for my mentee but also the most rewarding thing I have ever done at work. I decided to start All Out Careers in January of 2022 to share my knowledge, give advice and help people with their job search and career development. This site is a work in progress and is ever changing so please visit regularly.
